Pro deo werk in de sloppenwijken van Zuid Afrika, niet ongevaarlijk maakt Vicky Keulen daar reportages, oa van Gang 26, 1 van de gevaarlijkste bendes. Kinderen hebben haar hart gestolen in deze wijken waar ze soms wel bijna een week verbleef.Africa is in my heart, my first time photography in Africa goes back 30 years where I did some work for Doctors without Borders in Sudan, like Unicef. It is still something that runs through my veins, to see, meet and make friendships, to have them in front of my camera is a honor.
Underneath, Gang 26, it is not often to have these guys in front of a camera, as they are from one of the most dangerous gangs, and normally not so willing to be photographed. There bodies and eyes do tell there story a bit. However they have to kill a familymember to join this gang.
